In the afternoon , one will receive the tour of New Delhi to include Humanyun Tomb, Qutab Minar, India Gate, Birla Mandir, and also Bahai Temple. There will also be an Overnight stay at hotel here.
One will depart for airport for an early morning flight to the very peaceful and ancient city of Patna. On one’s arrival at Patna, one will be transferred to hotel. In an Afternoon excursion to Vaishali where there will be Lord Buddha preaching his last sermon and also announcing his approaching to Nirvana. One will also visit stupas holding urns which would contain the ashes of Buddha and also Ashoka pillar erected by Emperor Ashoka to mark these places which are sanctified by Buddha. The place is also famous now for the Madhubani paintings. Also there will be an Overnight stay at hotel.
One will receive a Morning drive down to Rajgir (102 kms / 2 hrs & 30 mins) which is also the capital of 6th century Magadha empire. It was also considered to be one of the revered sites of Buddha’s discourses. Buddha has also spent many years here. Visit Gridhrakula, Ajatsatru fort, Sapataparni cave, and Venuvana. One will visit Nalanda – the world’s oldest university which was founded in the 5th century. Also one will visit the monasteries and temples with impressive Buddhist & Hindu images. The Institute for research which deals into Buddhism and also Pali literature which has rare manuscripts, is also worth seeing and visiting for the enthusiasts. An Archaeological museum is also not supposed to be missed for the rare collections.
In Early mornings, one will leave after breakfast depart for Bodhgaya (193 kms / 4 hrs & 30 mins) by road. Also enroute visit Baraliar caves – there will be the earliest examples of rock cut caves. Most stylish and impressive craftsmanship of carving and rock inscription can be definitely seen. These caves do serve as inspiration also for the setting of E.M Foresters “A Passage to India”.
Bodhgaya, the shrin of Buddhism in India, is one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage centers. It was here that Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment and also became Buddha under the “Bodhi” tree , Japanese and Tibetan monasteries along with Magadha university museum ,Satabodhi temple are also to be visited. Also there will be an Overnight stay at hotel.
Early morning, there will be a departure after breakfast for Varanasi (243 kms / 6 hrs) which is by road (and if one so desires one can also go by train to Varanasi for Gaya). One will arrive also by afternoon and transfer oneself to hotel. There will be an Afternoon visit into the ghats and temples and Benaras Hindu University. There will again be an overnight stay at hotel.
One will receive an Early morning boat ride on the river Ganges to only see the beautiful sunrise at Ganges. After breakfast one will have the excursion to Sarnath, which is also the principle centre of Buddhism. It was only here around 530 B.C that Gautam Buddha did preach his 1st sermon after surely gaining enlightenment. Also one is able to visit Dhamekh and also other Dharmarajika stupas.
There is also an Afternoon drive to Kushinagar – this is the place where Gautam Buddha passed into Parinirvana. One will also visit Ramabha stupa whichdoes stand on the spot where the body of the Lord was cremated. Also, one will visit Natha Kumarka Kot that is enshrining the large recumbent figure of Buddha which is in the state of Nirvana.
One will receive Morning excursion to Lumbini, the place where Gautam Buddha was born. One will also see an ancient shrine with an image which represents the nativity of Buddha and it is still preserved. One will also receive an Afternoon drive to Balrampur and also visit Sravasti and other Buddhist shrines enroute.
There will be a Drive to Lucknow to catch the flight to Delhi. On arrival, one will transfer to international airport for flight and also to onward destination.
