BUDDHISM ENLIGHTENMENT TOUR

The following itinerary provides thorough information of the entire tour.
Day1: Arrive Delhi
Welcome on arrival at Delhi. A representative along with a cab would take you to the hotel. You may check-in and relax. Stay overnight.
Day 2: City Tour of Delhi
After breakfast, you would be taken to a historical tour of Old Delhi, which would include all the famous and notable places like Red Fort and Jama Masjid, an ancient mosque, both built by Shahjahan. Moreover, other noteworthy places like Rajghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Towards the afternoon, you would take a tour of New Delhi, including Humayun Tomb, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Birla Mandirand Bahai Temple. Return to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3: Flying to Patna
Board a flight to Patna in early morning. On arrival, you would be transferred to the hotel. After refreshing, you would be taken to Vaishali, the place where Lord Buddha preached his last sermon announcing his approaching Nirvana. Afterwards, there will be a visit to Ashoka Pillar erected by Emperor Ashoka to mark the places consecrated by Buddha. This place is also renowned for the Madhubani paintings. Stay overnight.
Day 4: Heading to Rajgir
There will be a morning drive of about 3 hours to Rajgir, capital of Magadha Empire. This place is one of the most prominent dissertations of Buddha. He had spent many years here. Then, you would visit the other important proximate places like Gridhrakula, Sapataparni cave, Ajatsatru fort and Venuvana. Henceforth, you shall visit the world’s oldest university called Nalanda, founded in 5th century. You will also get to see beautiful Buddhist and Hindu images, rare manuscripts and lastly an archaeological museum that too houses some antique collections. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Driving to Bodhgaya
This day would leave early morning for a 5 hours’ drive to Bodhgaya. In the way, you would visit the Baraliar Caves, one of the ancient caves. Here, splendid craftsmanship of carving and rock inscription can be seen. Arrive Bodhgaya late evening and stay overnight in the hotel.
Day 6: Sight-Seeing Bodhgaya
Bodhgaya is a divine Buddhist pilgrimage centre. It is this place where Gautama Buddha had attained enlightenment and became “Buddha” under the Bodhi tree. Afterwards, you would visit Japanese and Tibetan monasteries along with Magadha university museum. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 7: Heading to Varanasi
After the morning meal, you would head towards Varanasi by road. It is about 243 kilometres away. You would arrive by the afternoon and would be transferred to hotel in order to relax.in the evening, you would visit the Ghats and some famous temples. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 8: Visiting Sarnath
This day you would get an exciting chance to have a boat ride on river Ganges to see the delightful sunrise. After breakfast, there will be an excursion to Sarnath, the paramount centre of Buddhism, for the reason that this was the place where Buddha preached his 1st doctrine after achieving wisdom. Later, you would also visit Dhamekh and Dharmarajika stupas.
Day 9: Drive to Kushinagar
This day, you will have an afternoon drive to Kushinagar. It is an equally notable place as here, Buddha passed into Parinirvana. Later you would visit the Rambha Stupa where body of Lord Buddha was cremated. Also, you shall drop in Natha Kumarka Kot that enshrines the large procumbent figure of Buddha in the state of Nirvana. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 10: From Kushinagar to Lumbini and to Sarvasti
Firstly, there will be a morning expedition to Lumbini, the place where Buddha was born. An archaic shrine of Buddha is also preserved here. Afterwards there will be a drive to Balrampur and then to Sarvasti. Stay overnight at a nearby hotel.
Day 11: From Balrampur to Lucknow and back to Delhi
After the early meal, you would be driven to Lucknow to catch a flight to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi, you would be transferred to the international airport for catching a flight to onward destination.
